Green Drinks

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of cold waterAny 3-5 fresh green leafy vegetables-:
  • 1 handful spinach (whole or baby leaf)
  • 1 handful kale
  • 1 handful collard greens
  • 4 stalks celery (use the inside leaves also)
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 5 florets or handful broccoliother vegetables: 6 baby carrots or 3 regular size carrotsFruit (1-3 of the following):
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1/2 pear
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 3 tbsp cinnamon

Directions

Always use organic when possible.  Wash vegetables and fruit well.  Feel free to use the leaves of celery and leave the skin on the cucumber, apple (take out seeds) and pear.  Cut into big chunks.  No need to chop into little pieces.

Add water to blender.  Add vegetables and fruit to the top and puree for 1 minute.  Add more vegetables and fruit and cinnamon.  Blend on puree for another minute or until smooth.  If too thick, you may want to add more water.  The consistency should not be chunky soupy but thin enough to pour easily.

I always add a heaping tablespoon of ground chia seeds and/or flax seeds to a serving.  This adds evenmore fiber and will fill you up like a meal.  Store in a gallon container for no longer than 3 days.

As you can see, there is no steadfast rule.  This recipe (filling up a whole blender) typically makes 1/2 gallon of green drink.  Feel free to add more or less of what you like and make the consistency what is comfortable for you.

Enjoy!
