We’re Celebrating 30 Years Together

It all started with a stripper show at a bachelor party in 1989.

And this would have been an even more interesting story if I had anything to do with that part of the night…

However, my husband-to-be ended up at a New York City bar AFTER the bachelor party. He greeted me with a compliment about my red nails and then we played arcade basketball together.

It was an auspicious beginning.

We quickly fell in love and got married. It was easy and the most natural thing in the world. Soon after, we completed our family with our 2 amazing daughters, Rachel and Jennifer.

It was in a blink of an eye.

The girls are no longer girls, but women working and living on their own. And Mike and I seem to have added a wrinkle or two along with some gray hairs (hiding beneath my well-colored hair!).

While our actual anniversary is not until October 13th, we decided to renew our vows a few weeks early (opting for the better weather) with our girls. The renewal destination would be one of the most beautiful places on earth, in Arches National State Park in Moab, Utah, which we fell in love with last year.

It was about an hour-long hike to get to our vow renewal spot called Delicate Arch, one of the most famous geologic features in the world. The light opening beneath the arch is 46 feet high and 32 feet wide, making it the largest free-standing arch in the park. You can get an idea of the immense size in the pictures below.

It was magnificent.

The weather was a perfect 70 degrees with only blue skies as far as the eye could see. The air was crisp and we felt the perfect blend of exhilaration and excitement from our climb to our incredible destination.

I then pulled out my veil from my back pack. It was the veil I wore at our wedding– so I would look somewhat familiar from that special day back in 1991:).

We began our little ceremony, and the girls surprised us by singing a hysterical rap summarizing our 30 years together. Then Mike surprised me with our friend, Bob, who officiated our renewal via video. Mike even played a clip from our actual wedding video as we both said, “I do.”

Through laughter and tears, we vowed to be together for another 30 years, and then some, as we retraced our decades of love, so much laughter, family memories and traditions, amazing adventures and even the challenges, and just… life.

And at the end when we kissed, many of the other visitors cheered and filmed us. It was truly amazing and a moment I will always cherish. My heart was completely full being with my favorite people  ❤️ in the most breathtaking place in the world. It was perfect.

I celebrate my 30 years of love with my best friend and the best man I know. I am grateful every day:).

We also toured Canyonlands, Yellowstone Park, Capitol Reef and Park City during our 10-Day tour.  It was my favorite trip to date.  I invite you to check out our journey on my Instagram page here, https://www.instagram.com/jillthehealthcoach/ on the highlight reel, YStone/Moab.

Please let me know if you have experienced any of these amazing places as I would love to hear from you:).

By the way, part of planning for my trip was being prepared with healthy food so we could feel amazing on our trip.  As we always do when traveling, we stopped at a market soon after landing to stock up on fresh veggies, fruit, nuts, organic deli meats and more.  We stored them in a refrigerator pack for easy travel and access.  That way, we could enjoy full days of touring without having to stop for breakfast or lunch.

And if you’re curious about some of the foods we bought or that I eat regularly to keep me feeling amazing, check out my free shopping list.
