10 Top Amazing Uses of Baking Soda

You thought baking soda was just useful for baking and to deodorize the fridge, but it does so much more!

What’s even better, your Arm & Hammer won’t cost you an arm and a leg at about a buck a box. Check out all the amazing uses below from heartburn to teeth cleaning whitening to unclogging a drain.

1. Natural Deodorant

Aluminum is toxic! In fact, it’s been consistency detected in people stricken with Alzheimer’s (among other diseases…). So it’s best to avoid cooking with it or using personal products containing aluminum. Most antiperspirants contain aluminum. Use baking soda instead. You can make a little paste by adding a little water with a bit of baking soda, or simply use it like baby powder dry spreading it under the arms.

2. Heartburn and Indigestion

Neutralizing stomach acid with over-the-counter antacids commonly contain bicarbonate–baking soda! Avoid the other toxic ingredients in those meds by just using the baking soda and see how effectively it can work–even for ulcer pain.

Dissolve ½ teaspoon of baking soda in about 6-8 oz water. You can then take this every two hours (do not take more than seven ½ teaspoons in 24 hours, or three ½ teaspoons if you’re over 60).

As with all heartburn/indigestion remedies and meds, it is not safe to take these on a consistent basis as it can cause serious electrolyte and acid/base imbalances. Always search for the root cause for a permanent solution.

3. Natural Tooth Paste

Regular toothpaste is toxic from the fluoride (yes, look at the label!) and does not optimally remove plaque. Baking soda helps remove plaque and is a natural antibacterial agent. I make my own toothpaste by adding baking soda, Himalayan sea salt, 3% hydrogen peroxide, activated charcoal powder and a few drops of peppermint essential oil to feel minty fresh. Simply brush with mixture and spit out the remains. My teeth seriously have never felt so clean!

4. Exfoliator and to Soak Feet

Simply make a paste made from three parts of baking soda combined with one part water and exfoliate face and body. A soothing foot soak can be made by adding three tablespoons of baking soda to a tub of warm water. You can scrub your feet with a baking soda paste for additional exfoliation.
