Top 10 Reasons I Love Being a Mom

Wishing all you amazing moms out there a beautiful Mother’s Day on Sunday!

It is truly one of my favorite days of the year as I am so grateful to always be treated with something special with my immediate family, Mike, Rachel and Jennifer plus other loved ones depending on what we do that year.

This year, I can’t wait to do a Strawberry Fields Beatles Brunch! And I hope you all have fun plans, too:).

More than what we do, I am so grateful for my family. They truly are my heart and soul and my inspiration for everything I do in my life.

So, I have lots of reasons I love being a Mom. Especially now, as an older Mom with grown-up kiddos (although they’ll always be kids to me!).

Here are my top 10:

  1. Watching them grow

What a gift to watch your children grow from babies to adulthood. I watched them win and I watched them struggle, but they always managed to thrive as they completed each stage of life.

I even wrote and recorded a song way back when about their journey called My Little Doves:)

So, while my girls are both adults now, the growing and learning still continues and I still marvel at their constant transformations.

  1. Bravery

Being a mom has taught me so much about bravery. I have shown more courage than I ever thought I had. As a mama lion, I was fierce in protecting my cubs between health issues and just life issues.

But my girls taught me even more by their examples. Both of them never gave up. They persevered despite any challenges they faced on their journeys.

  1. They teach me new things every day

I know as moms, we are supposed to teach and guide our children. But the truth is that I learn more from them than I could ever imagine. And every day. They help me look at things from a different perspective and just enlighten me with what they learn and share.

  1. Fashion

I’m grateful that my girls inspire me to try to keep up with what’s current, despite some of my 20+ year old summer tops…

  1. My career

I pretty much took health for granted until we had a health crisis with Rachel. It was through her healing journey that I became so passionate to share how food can heal and how to bring the body back to balance naturally. So, I (and Rachel!) am so grateful to pay it forward and help so many others:).

  1. Technology

I always joke with my kids that we “breed” so we can learn the latest tech!

While my girls make fun of me and grab my phone to fix this or that, they are the ones that I rely on for the latest and greatest trends with phones and computers and applications.

  1. Holiday hosting

I always love hosting holidays and now I have even been starting to gratefully pass the torch. It’s not so bad to just bring a dish or two…

And I love how they make me feel special with amazing (healthy and delicious) food they prepare. Plus, they add extra touches like displaying an ongoing montage of family pics!

  1. Unconditional love

As moms, we all go through those days that our kids drive us crazy. (I guess that goes both ways when we drive our kids crazy, too!) But in the end, there is always that unconditional love. No matter what, we will always be there for each other.

  1. They are funny!

My girls always know how to make me laugh–whether it’s a one-liner or a meme or even making fun of me (somehow, they never run out of material…).

So often I’m sitting home alone working and the funniest text appears that leaves me hysterically laughing.

And especially when they were little and had no idea they were so funny… We love pulling out the “vintage” videos of the girls playing doctor and fashion shows and being the store clerk where everything was just 41 cents!

  1. Joy

How can I even explain what I feel with every phone call, text, card, trip together, dinner, fun times at the shore and just being together? While it’s not all roses and we certainly have our share of disagreements, in the end there is always so much love. And that love gives me more joy than I could ever have expected or imagined.

So, I want to thank Rachel and Jennifer for giving me the honor of being your mom. It is a job where I have succeeded and failed, but above all continue to learn and grow-together. I love, and will always love being their mom.

Happy Mother’s Day to you all!
