We Have it All Backwards

Everything we do in life starts with our mindset.

It’s all a mental game first.

Whether it’s accomplishing big things in our career or trying to achieve a goal or even going to the market, we all start with how we feel (or decide to feel), which determines how we accomplish any task.

However, according to Master hypnotherapist and sales psychology expert Jim Fortin, we all have it backwards.

He says that when you have a goal for anything, we usually start from where we are now and then use tools to get where you want to be.

Makes sense…Let’s say if you would like to release weight, you start where you are and then follow a plan to help you get there.

However, he says that is the big mistake.

He claims that you may follow the plan, but then you eventually drift back to where you were. Which can be true much of the time.

Fortin claims this one sentence puts it all into perspective that was given to him by his brother-in-law, who is a famous Shaman.

You are where you attention is.

Think about it, if your attention is that you always need to LOSE weight, then that is what you are –and will remain.

Whoa!

So, what he really means is that you should see things NOT as they ARE, but as you WANT them to BE.

Now, I’ve spoken a lot about visualizing your future-self enough so it seeps into your subconscious making it more likely to come true. But this does take it to another level.

Fortin says you should ask these important questions (and keep asking every day):

If I already had (your goal),

Who would I be?

What would I do?

How would I feel?

So, let’s continue the example of someone trying to reach their optimal weight.

If I ALREADY got to a size 6, I would be that thin and confident woman. I would continue to eat better because I feel so good and want to stay this way and I would feel happy and free.

We let our answers be our guidance system to get to where we ARE as we see ourselves having ALREADY gotten there.

I have found that mindset truly Is the key to getting to any goal–whether it’s attaining weight goals or earning money or relationships–anything.

Try this for yourself and let me know how it goes for you.

“It is our choices that show what we truly are far more than our abilities.”
