Who knew Epsom Salts could do so much? Epsom Salt Baths are one of the great ways to detoxify the body, get rid of headaches, soothe muscles and even help decrease inflammation.

Epsom salts consist of magnesium and sulfate. Magnesium is crucial to our bodily functions and is now one of the most common minerals we do not get enough of. Sadly, our food sources and soil has less and less magnesium making it more difficult to enrich our bodies from the food we eat. In fact, magnesium deficiency contributes to high rates of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis, joint pain, digestive issues, stress-related illnesses, chronic fatigue and so much more.

Sulfates also play an important role in the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins as well as proteins the line the walls of the digestive tract.

Why would taking a bath in Epsom Salt be so beneficial? Think about it. Your skin is the largest organ in your body. When soaking in a bath, consider how much can get absorbed in one sitting seeping into the thousands of pores in the skin.. However, it also acts as a type of reverse osmosis whereby the Epsom Salt gets absorbed through ths skin while pulling out harmful toxoins from the body. In with the good and out with the bad!

Check out these amazing Epsom Salt benefits:

Reduced inflammation
Detoxification of toxins and heavy metals
Relieves stress (magnesium is a form of relaxant)
Improves absorption of minerals
Improves nerve function
Improves cardiovascular function and circulation
Improves ability for body to use insulin (that means it coud help reduce incidence of diabetes)
Ease or prevention of migraine headaches
Epsom Salt baths even work great when sick as it helps pull out toxins. It’s done wonders in my family and is certainly kid-approved.

The best part is that it is simple and even cheap. My 6 pound bag of Epsom Salt cost me about 7 bucks. Simply add about 2 cups per bath (yes-be generous with the amount!) and let it dissolve in warm water. Then soak for about 15 minutes 3 times a week. If you are pregnant save it for after the baby is born where you will need some relaxation! If you have heart problems, high blood pressure or diabetes, you should check with your doctor first.

Be sure to indulge yourself with a relaxing and nutrient-rich bath!
