No April Fool’s here! The following are some great home remedies that you will use (perhaps just in time before this big holiday weekend!):
Bad Breath – Offend people no more with this simple after drink of black tea. Researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago reported that the plant chemicals catechins and theaflavin are released from black tea leaves during the brewing process. They help shut down the digestive enzymes that trigger odor-producing bacteria in the mouth. Conversely, papaya and papaya enzymes also work well as they help break down and digest the offending foods that may be at the source.
Headache Relief- Mix 1 tsp of baking soda with 8 ounces of water. This works amazingly well. No, baking soda, try grabbing a pencil. When we are stressed or anxious, we tend to clench our jaws and teeth which can lead to tension headaches. When you feel your jaw start to clench, simply put a pencil between your teeth but don’t bite down. Just try to hold it which will cause your jaw to relax which may help curtail headaches.
Cold Sores – Check out Lemon Balm Tea and apply it to the blister several times a day. A big study in Germany found that once treated with lemon balm, there was not a single cold sore recurrence. You can also puncture a vitamin E gel capsule-400 iu. Then squeeze out the oil and cover the cold sore with it. Do this 3 times a day and cold sore should resolve at the end of the second day.
Warts- First make sure the wart and surrounding skin are clean, then cut a piece of duct tape a bit larger than the wart. YES, duct tape! Press it into place over the wart and remove tape every three days, rub the wart with an emery board or pumice stone. Repeat until the wart is gone.
Minor Burns or Insect Bites- Apply mustard to the burn or sting. This helps relieve pain, itch and redness.
I want to wish all of you and your families a wonderful Passover, Happy Easter and joy in whatever you may be celebrating as we WELCOME Spring!
