I Just Got Back From Turkey and Israel!

What a whirlwind!

I just got back with my family from a 12-Day trip to Turkey and Israel.

We flew on an overnight to Turkey that left at 9:30 pm which took about 9 hours. I was definitely a bit bleary-eyed from no sleep on those “comfy” airplane seats when we landed in Istanbul.

But the hustle and bustle of Istanbul got my adrenaline flowing as it is Turkey’s largest and most important cities. Fun fact, Istanbul is one of only 2 cities in the world that are on 2 separate continents-Asia and Europe.

Istanbul is a modern city with lots of Roman history and beautiful mosques and castles and LOTS of shopping and walking.

The food was right up my alley with a Mediterranean emphasis of clean veggies, fish, hummus and of course, lots of kebabs.  We got some awesome meals, and everyone was so friendly and helpful.  We even took advantage of a Turkish bath which was an experience.  I felt like I was in Roman times with this communal experience in a massive, majestic all-marble bath house.

Then we flew to Cappadocia, which is a city in the middle of Turkey famous for its caves and hot air balloons (dozens of balloons set off at the same time in a valley at sunrise!). While the weather kept us from enjoying our own hot air balloon ride, the incredible landscape of caves was amazing. People have lived in these caves for centuries. In fact, our hotel was a renovated cave (yes–renovated CAVE!) and it was beautiful!

After our visit to Turkey, we flew to Israel to attend my niece’s wedding in Tel Aviv. What an amazing experience where we enjoyed the fun ceremony on a rooftop with the incredible backdrop of the city of Tel Aviv and then danced past 2:00 am!

We toured a bit more of Israel floating in the Dead Sea, touched the sky at Masada, and of course, experienced the magic of Jerusalem (so special during this time of year with the holidays!).

Wow.  So many adventures and, now, wonderful memories.

Now, back at home, we are celebrating my favorite holiday, Passover.  We always make our Seder (Passover dinner) so much fun.  Plus, the story of Passover hits home a bit more this year as we literally feel as though we just stepped into the bible in Israel, where it all took place.

This truly is my favorite time of year and brings me so much joy.  Everyone just seems so much happier with the longer days, rebirth and renewal with flowers blooming and budding trees.  Ahhhhh.

I’m wishing all of you the best during this wonderful time of year with a Happy Passover, Happy Easter or whatever you may celebrate as we welcome Spring.

Xo,

Jill
