Alzheimer’s have shown to be curcumin, vitamin D and folateCoconut oil also is a top food while meditation contributes by stimulating blood flow in the brain.  Please take advantage as this event is free only this week.  Simply click here to be a part of this important event.  You never know who you will be able to help:)  See you at the Summit!

Knowledge is power.  More than ever you need to be your own best health advocate to nourish your body to good health.

Meditation Can Reverse Memory Loss

I’m a fan of meditation.  There is a reason Goldie Hawn has created the Hawn Foundation that successfully uses meditation for children to reduce stress and aggressive behavior.  You may also be surprised at other people you know who are committed and grateful for their daily meditating such as  Oprah Winfrey, Kobe Bryant, Jerry Seinfeld, Jennifer Aniston, George Stephanopoulis, LeBron James and so many more.

I often talk about stress being the root cause of most diseases as it then leads to inflammation.  Stress comes in many forms such as emotional, physical stress (yes, even long distance running is extremely stressful!), environmental stress (chemical toxicity, etc) and of course, food stressors (processed and pesticide-laden).  My biggest goal with my clients is to de-stress in all of these categories to help put out that fire to decrease inflammation.  Meditation is a great alternative as it truly helps the body to relax so it can function better and detoxify itself.  It’s also so easy to do as you can do it anywhere at any time.

While there are tons of personal testimonials, there are studies to back up the benefits of meditation.  I was listening to one of the expert interviews today on the Alzheimer’s Summit with Dr. Dharma Singh Khalsa.  He said, “If stress causes memory loss, then everything I’ve learned …(about meditation)… and my own investigation should have the opposite effect.”

Dr. Dharma then began his investigation of how mediation could prevent Alzheimer’s Disease.  In one study, after doing a specific 12-minute meditation on subjects with Alzheimer’s at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Dharma said, “We saw changes in people with memory loss that had increased blood flow in their brain… It was proven and we saw actual reversal of memory loss in only 12 minutes a day doing this technique.  It was groundbreaking.  Plus, their mood improved.  Their energy improved. And we also found that long-term meditators had much healthier looking brains!”

I have been meditating daily using an app called Calm. I enjoy listening to it with its lengths varying from 3 minutes to 20 minutes.  It’s a great starter meditation guide as it’s free and has a few options to listen to.  However, after listening to Dr. Dharma’s meditation during his talk, I realized the powerful difference of adding 4 specific sounds coordinating them with specific finger positions.  It seemed to keep my mind from wandering as it has during my other meditations.  So, I just bought the full 12-minute meditation for a small donation (AlzheimersPrevention.org).  What a difference!  After only one Kirtan Kriya meditation, I felt more energized but so peaceful.

A while back, I heard another famous doctor who had a relentless work schedule talk about his meditation practice.  When asked how he had the time to “squeeze” it in, he said, that on his busiest days, he actually added more meditation –for more energy and focus!

See what only 12 minutes a day can do for you.
