Suffering From Allergies? Top Strategies to Help Reduce or Eliminate Them

Allergies suck! No one likes dealing with allergies or constantly having to carry tissues all the time. Then, what if you don’t have tissues with you? It can get pretty ugly.

There are natural remedies that can be quite effective. Better yet, there could be some underlying root cause to your body’s reactions.

Some common root causes that may result in histamine reactions to your body could be:

Leaky gut

  • Food Sensitivities
  • Vitamin deficiencies
  • Environmental

Leaky Gut is becoming more and more common. In fact, most people have one or more symptom. This is when your gut lining becomes so thin, it can’t absorb nutrients and may allow particles to pass through the lining into other areas of the body and cause inflammation. Please see my article for a more in depth discussion with remedies. Many of my clients’ allergies “magically” disappear when they clean up their gut.

Food sensitivities are also very common in promoting histamine responses that appear as allergies. The most common foods that wreak havoc with the body are grains and dairy. Both of these are mucus-causing which obviously can impact sinuses and inflammation. However, they both can compromise the gut lining which has a direct tie to allergic responses.

You can easily test this for yourself. All you have to do is eliminate these foods for around 2 weeks. Then re-introduce them one at a time a few days apart. Many times, it is pretty obvious how allergic responses seem to dissipate while off the common foods and then allergies are re-triggered once the foods are re-introduced.

You can also take a simple test which may indicate the specific foods causing disruptions with your microbiome leading to histamine responses.

Vitamin deficiencies are also very common these days with less nutrients in our food as it is littered with toxins and the soil where it grows is so depleted. The most common vitamin deficiency is Vitamin D.

Vitamin D is particularly important as it helps support the immune system so your body can protect itself more efficiently.

Environmental issues can also be an underlying cause of allergies. People may develop responses from fresh paint, new furniture, clothing, carpeting or other toxins.

A common environmental toxin is mold. This is becoming very pervasive and results in a variety of symptoms. Mold can even accumulate in the nasal passages resulting in the formation of fungal colonies. Please refer my article on mold.

Natural Remedies

Thankfully there are are many natural remedies available while you try to uncover the root cause. The best part is that they won’t leave you tired all day and most will boost your immune system.

Some common supplements that could be very helpful are:

Quercitin

Vitamin D3

Stinging Nettle

Probiotics

Reishi mushrooms (I like powder-form that can be mixed into teas)

Another helpful remedy is to clear out the nasal passages which may have hard-to-reach fungal colonies. The Nasaline Rinsing System using Xlear Neti packets mixed with the Nasaline saline can be effective. The xylitol in the Xlear has been known to kill off fungus and bacteria. These can be found on amazon.
