The “C” Word is the Key to Every Relationship

Every time we interact with anyone, whether it’s someone we know, or just a stranger on the street, we form some type of relationship.

And we can make whatever encounters we have positive or negative or impactful or non-impactful and so much more.

How would you like to know the secret to making any relationship better for both you and the other person?

The “C” word is communication.  But of course, there are many different types of communicating.

For example, which of these three forms of communication do you think are most meaningful?

  1. Words
  2. Tonality of the words spoken
  3. Physiology or what we do with our bodies as words are spoken

Most people assume that the actual words have the most meaning or impact, but in fact, our non-verbal communication is far more meaningful.

Believe it or not, words only play a 7% role of meaning to others.  While Physiology comes in at a whopping 55% and Tonality is 38%.

In other words, if we say to someone, “You’re doing a great job.”

However, we say this with our arms crossed and with a flat expression and even, low tone, we are nonverbally telling them something that is completely opposite!

So, the secret is to be aware of what your body is doing and HOW you say things to communicate more effectively.  Then, make sure your body language and tone does reflect what you want to say, and it will even help establish greater rapport or likability.

This works with anyone including our spouses, kids, coworkers, friends, teachers, etc.

Start now to pay attention to your physiology and tonality.  You may not even realize what you do.  And if you are surprised and want to make some changes, do so.  These simple, small changes could literally change all of your relationships for the better😊.
