What Does Freedom Mean to You?

Happy Fourth of July!

I hope you enjoy this day with family and friends and do something special.  We will be celebrating with our immediate family and a bunch of friends and look forward to a wonderful barbecue of healthy eats, beautiful firework display along our river and lots of laughs.

I have been reflecting quite a bit for the past few months on what freedom means.

While this Independence Day is a day off of work filled with summer fun for so many of us, I can’t even imagine what our forefathers gave up to give us the freedom that we have today.

Freedom certainly isn’t free and it takes a lot of work and sacrifice to achieve.  And I am grateful every day for the freedoms that we have.  Let’s face it, we have the freedom to see who we want, travel where we want, work where we want, eat what we want, go where we want and so much more.

I guess it’s so easy for us to take for granted what we have as we simply haven’t experienced otherwise. Although, we certainly got a taste of limited freedom during Cov1d, and perhaps that’s why I am more grateful than ever for what we have.

But what is freedom to you?

I challenge you to take a moment and really consider what it means to you in all aspects of your life, as it certainly is different for everyone.

To me, freedom is:

Spending much time with those who I love.

Sharing the health and serving those who wish to learn.

Being with friends and community and learning new things every day.

Traveling to different areas of our country and the world.

Eating healthy foods that I enjoy (yes, I do ENJOY my healthy foods as it all tastes so good to me and makes me feel good.)

Enjoying the simple pleasures of running outside in the morning, listening to the birds waking me in the morning, walking in nature, reading a good book and learning new health hacks that I can try and share.

Of course, there are many more, but these are what feed my soul and just what I love to have the freedom to do.

As I said earlier, freedom is this word that has been resonating with me in particular, of the past few months. So many of my clients have told me they crave health and food freedom.

Freedom from guilt or shame about how they look.

Freedom from feeling weak.

Freedom from eating “healthy” foods they dislike.

Freedom to feel good enough about themselves so they are no longer obsessed with weight or health.

With this ultimate goal of freedom, it occurred to me to create some sort of blueprint to get that freedom so many of us have be craving.

So, I came up with a system of key elements that any of us can apply, to finally get clarity and bring us the freedom we all crave.  My FREEDOM System.

F – Follow a plan or guidelines.  Structure is what gives us the most freedom.

R – Rest, relax, release.  We must de-stress our bodies so we can think and act more clearly and have our bodies operate the way it it meant.

E – Eat REAL food.  By eating the food or fuel we are meant to eat, our bodies will naturally go back to balance.

E – Engage in community.  We are social beings and meant to interact. It feeds our souls more and brings us more joy than we may realize.

D – Dig deep to identify root causes of issues.  Any symptoms we experience may be due to environment or foods that affect us a certain way.

O – Organization.  Our brains operate best with order.  When we are more organized and prepared, we are more likely to succeed at whatever we want.

M – Mindset. Making small shifts in our minds to change habits or create better ones are the key to making it easier to get what you want.

The best part of my FREEDOM system is that it applies to EVERYTHING in your life.  When you master all of these elements, you become unstoppable in getting the ultimate freedom you desire.

I invite you to apply some of these elements starting today:).

I will talk more about this system, but thought it was appropriate to share on this special day of freedom that I hope you will all enjoy.

Here’s to your freedom today, tomorrow and every day!
