Unmask Your Food Triggers that May Be Sabotaging Your Weight and Health Efforts

I see this all the time.

Maybe this is you.

Are you tirelessly working towards your weight goals but not seeing the results you desire?

Well, hold on tight because we’re about to uncover some sneaky food triggers that might be throwing a wrench into your weight goal journey.

Today, we’re diving into the world of dairy, wheat, sugar, and soy – those notorious troublemakers that could be keeping you from strutting your stuff at your dream weight. Let’s explore how these “villains” may affect you.

  1. Dairy: The Sneaky Lactose Bandit

Alright, let’s talk about dairy – the arch-nemesis of lactose intolerant folks (and those who don’t even know they are lactose intolerant!).

Did you know that about 65% of the world’s population has trouble digesting lactose? That’s a whole lot of tummies feeling bloated and gassy and even nasal congestion after that cheesy pizza or creamy latte indulgence. No wonder it can put a damper on your weight goals!

So, it might be worth considering if dairy is causing your digestive and nasal mayhem and sabotaging your progress.

  1. Wheat: The Gluten Goblin

Ah, wheat – the stealthy ingredient that lurks in so many of our favorite foods.

Gluten sensitivity is real, and it actually affects all of us in some way. However, for many of us, it’s not so obvious. But for others, gluten sensitivity or celiac disease can turn it into a real party pooper (literally!).

These gluten-sensitive warriors might experience bloating, fatigue, headache and even joint pain after a gluten-filled feast.

So, if you suspect you’re battling the gluten goblin, it’s time to be a gluten detective and explore gluten-free alternatives to help you reach your weight loss goals without feeling like a deflated balloon.

  1. Sugar: The Sweet Siren Calling Your Name

I used to be a sugar addict myself. And certainly, know the bittersweet struggle of getting that sugar high just to come crashing down an hour or so after feeling sluggish and tired.

But it tastes sooooo good.

But it’s everywhere and excessive sugar consumption can be a slippery slope. Did you know that the average American woman gobbles up a whopping 17 teaspoons (71 grams) of added sugar every day?

Yikes! With hormonal changes and a slightly slower metabolism as we age, sugar can be a formidable opponent on our weight journey.

To keep those scales tipping in your favor, it’s time to bid adieu to excessive sugar and embrace a healthier, more balanced relationship with the sweet stuff.

It may be tough to eliminate at first. But as one of my clients says, “I don’t crave sugar now that I don’t eat sugar.”

  1. Soy: The Tricky Estrogen Imposter

Now, let’s unravel the enigma of soy, that controversial little legume. Some studies suggest that soy’s phytoestrogens can mess with our hormone balance, especially during menopause when our body’s estrogen levels go haywire.

While Tofu and edamame can be excellent sources of plant-based protein and nutrients, often it’s the pesticides (such as glyphosate or known as Round-Up) that are commonly sprayed on soy plants that throw our systems out of balance.

In addition, overeating soy products can impact your thyroid and metabolism which can directly promote our bodies to retain fat.

We’ve unmasked the culprits that might be messing with your weight goals. Dairy, wheat, sugar, and soy have all had their moment in the spotlight, but it’s time for you to reclaim control! By understanding your body’s unique needs and navigating these potential triggers you’re one step closer to achieving your desired weight and embracing boundless energy.

First, it’s so important to eat organic whenever possible. These toxins contribute to fat storage, and they add up faster than you would think.

Then, I encourage you to listen to your body. It will tell you if it doesn’t like some sort of food by giving you specific signs or symptoms. Don’t ignore these as it can lead to heavier impacts down the road.
